How the day trading calculator works
Profit on a long trade is the exit price minus the entry price, times the number of shares, minus the commission on both the buy and the sell. A short trade reverses the subtraction. Buying 200 shares at $25.00 and selling at $25.75 makes $150 before commissions, which is a 3% return on the $5,000 position.
The daily profit view answers a different question: what steady daily gain would do to a balance. At 0.5% a day, $10,000 becomes about $11,104 after 21 trading days. Real accounts lose on some days, so read that as arithmetic and test your actual win rate in the day trading simulator.
